Pair this with a small solar charger and you have a great solution for backpackers and touring bicyclists. It also charges my mp3 player. I use this external battery as a backup charger for my blackberry curve cell phone while on long distance bicycle trips and camping. Works great given the small size of the battery.
That's exactly what I am doing. When it works, it's great. When you count on it and it's dead, it certainly will cause you to pick anther product next time. I used this devise 4-5 times without an issue. No more Macally products. I have heard this from other reviews. Then it just 100% stopped working. Seems to be a pattern.
For me this was worthwhile purchase. The first one I have is a little longer than this one. This one is a great size for easy pocketing and it is just as great in power as the the first one I bought.
In addition to my Zune, I have found it to work with ipods, GPSs, and just about anything else that charges through USB. I can't wait for my next long plane trip.UDPATE: I've had this battery for about six months now and it's still working great. It does not work with my Motorola VE20 mobile phone, but I think that's because it needs to be hooked up to a computer (needs the drivers) in order to charge through USB. I got it to work with both my Zune 30 and 120, and since I haven't seen any reviewers comment on its functionality with this particular device, I just want to confirm that it works. It charged my 30 from dead to full in two hours (or maybe less time--it was fully charged when I checked it).
This gives me the flexibility to time all day without worrying about the battery in the Palm. The battery fits in my pocket and is a attached by a retractable cable. I have also used the battery to charge my Motorola cell phone. So far this product is a very good solution for me. I use it as back-up power for my Palm, which I use for doing Industial Engineer time studies.
